The Lost Plot
I had been really looking forward to taking my younger brother to see “Master Plot”. We go to watch a film at the student union most Saturdays, and he was waiting for this movie, as comedies are his favourite genre. However the evening didn’t live up to our expectations.
First of all, the film started 20 minutes later, due to a problem with a projector. This meant that it ended 20 minutes late too, so my brother and I had to run for the last train home – not an ideal way to end a relaxing evening out. When the film finally started, it wasn’t at all what we expected.
The advertisement promised “another Eddie Murphy movie”. And in fact maybe that was the problem it tried to be three films in one (action, comedy, thriller), and it ended up leaving everyone feeling short changed. My brother, the comedy fan, said thet there weren’t enough funny action. Neither of us had the enjoyable experience we were hoping for.
The rest of things we weren’t happy with had more to do with the way the evening was organized than they did with the film itself. The interval was only 5 minutes long, much too short for the film that goes on for 3 hours. When the break did come there was no ice-cream, as advertised. If I’m going to spend another 1000 roubles to take us to the next week’s film, I hope the student union chooses one from a specific genre – and remembers to stock up on ice-cream!

A movie to watch?
Last week our student union organized a movie theatre. The movie of the evening was called “Master Plot”, which is a recently released comedy thriller. Friendly atmosphere and occasional giggles were but all one may want after a hard week. Unfortunately, there was a reverse side of the coin, and I will analyze it further in this article.
First of all, the movie did not begin on time for some mysterious reasons. Speaking of the film itself, it was a comedy filled to the brim with action scenes, which I consider to be a somewhat insensible choice. It was supposed to be something to laugh at, yet, like I noted above the giggles were only occasional. Overall, sadly to say, it left a rather bad aftertaste.
To make matters worse, there happened to be some organisation issues. We had a short intermission, for the movie was very lengthy. People rushed to the bar to buy some snacks, but there were not any snacks whatsoever. Moreover, the interval was too short to do anything.
As a constant member of this movie club, I would like to make several suggestions lest the organisers make the same mistakes. It would be a better decision to make an opinion poll so as to meet everyone’s demands. Furthermore, the entrance should be made free or at least more affordable, I believe many people will side with me. All in all, even though the movie was a failure and there was no ice-cream in the snack bar, we all enjoyed the omnipresent spirit of happiness and in course of time this project will only get better.
